HISTORY
Shelfmart was instigated in 1998 by Jim McIver. After conducting various research and noticing a hole in the market, Jim had the idea that he could provide customers with “quality used pallet racking and shelving”. The reason behind this is that Jim felt that these types of products largely maintained their integrity and were fine to be bought and sold as used goods and priced them accordingly. Customers of Jim soon cottoned on that there were quality products available at prices that were far more appealing and Jim coupled this with a service that he was proud of. Jim felt if he could react quickly and professionally to his customers demands that would also gain him an advantage over competitors and this is something that really appealed. Over a period of time as the business grew, Jim began sourcing new products as well as “quality used ones” and began marketing these new products to both his current and new customers. Jim diversified to offer quite an extensive range of new and used storage and shelving products but still maintained he could keep these items affordable. Shelfmart soon had a reputation for having quality “new” and “used” storage products that could be accessed immediately and with knowledge and personality to boot. Shelfmart now distributes a variety of products right round the country as it’s still this fundamental strategy that the team at Shelfmart still hold onto dearly today!
